ABs (anti-lock braking system)
ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) reduces skidding when a driver brakes heavily and helps prevent loss of control of the vehicle, which is especially useful in potential crash situations. Some ABS's also include brake assist, which senses emergency braking by detecting the speed or force at which the driver applies the brake pedal and boosts the power as needed. Brake assist reduces the overall stopping distance by eliminating the delay caused by not braking hard enough or soon enough. ABS was first invented in 1958 by a Mercedes engineer and was first seen in 1978 in a Mercedes-Benz S-Class.
